Today, I want to talk about a daily trip  to Dankia Lake (Hồ Dankia), The Southern Beauty of Vietnam.

Considered a poetry of the nature, Dankia Lake is a really nice landscape, also called the Golden Source, in the minds of the Vietnamese!

This lake is in Lâm Đồng province and in the south of Vietnam very near Da Lat. The region is well known for beautiful natural setting.

The lake is very beautiful, the water of the golden valley is very yellow, suitable for picnic, camping, treking …

This is not only a lake, but also where I practice. Because I’m a gymnast. And I like practice around flower gardens.

How to get to Dankia Lake

Dankia Lake is located 20 km northeast side to the center of Da Lat.

Da Lat to Dankia Lake Transport

You can drive here from Da Lat with 40 minutes drive via winding road DT 722.

Dankia Lake

A beautiful lake on the way to Ankroet, beautiful poetic landscape and pine forest, 20 km from the center of Da Lat. Although it is a bit far fram the city center, it is extremely impressive for visitor.

It extends along the foot of the imposing Lang Bian Mountains which is thought to be a complex of many beautiful landscapes. There is a project to build resorts, golf courses and hunting places by the lake also….

At an altitude of 1,500 meters above sea level, The Dankia Lake is not only a spectacular sight, but also serves as the regulator of water in the region in every rainy season.

The lake is one of the most famous tourist attractions in Da Lat with immense green pine groves, flowers, grasses and rocks.

It is one of the largest freshwater lakes in Dalat. 20 million cubic of water is used as drinking water for Dalat city. You can come here to take some really nice photos of the lake with a background of the forest behind.

Dankia Lake
Lonely Pine

The virtual fog covers the sunlight over beautiful hills, and then the fog disappears slowly, so that the sun will shine, suddenly surprised by the magic spell of nature.

Lonely Pine is quite famous in the area. However, there are many beautiful scenes created with the diversity and uniqueness of nature. The view here is beautiful.

At any time of the year, the lake is still an inspiration for artists, photographers and even wedding photographers. There are no daily worries, just with the earth, heaven, grass, flowers …

I recommend you to go especially early in the morning because it is very virtual. The weekday view is absolutely quiet.

We, the Vietnamese love this land for its for its lovely and charming beauty where the sky, the land and people seem to be merged into a melody lasting forever.

Where to eat around Dankia Lake

Beautiful nature but do not have suitable services. Just for sightseeing. But around the lake there are so many simple eateries and refreshments. Sơn Lâm Quán, Nhà hàng Sơn Lâm, Quán Ăn Sang Thảo, Thịt rừng suối vàng, Thu Thu Quán are the restaurans by the lake.

Cheap grilled chicken, grilled sweet potatoes and eggs on sale.

Below the dam, there is a beautiful waterfall selling baked cakes and delicious pink peaches.

You can sat on the edge of the dam, in a small makeshift shop of the original owner of Nghe An, eat some grilled quail eggs, some corn bread.

Where to stay around Dankia Lake

If you want to find a place to camp or to have party with your friend, you can go back about 1 km, to the small river near Ankroet hydroelectric plant. At the sign of the road to the plant, you’ll see a small road down, take that road and at the middle of the road you’ll see a nice river with rock. It’s a good place to hold your party/camp. Please remember not to litter at the river!

And there is another chance to camp, Đồi Cỏ Hồng Ankroet. It is a bit too far and difficult to walk. But the reward for nature lovers is a magnificent night. Wake up early in the morning to watch the sun rise. The sun is shining on the grass. If lucky, you can capture the moments of the smooth layer of dew covered grass forming white veil as snow.

If you want, you can stay at the rural bungalow or hotel, too. I can advise you Green Bee Bungalow (Nhà gỗ Ong rừng) or DotLy Farm near the lake. Also, no/less tourists… That’s right Hồ Dankia!

Finally,

Dankia Lake is one of the most beautiful regions in Vietnam. If you feel yourself a rugged traveller, come to see Dankia Lake, The Southern Beauty of Vietnam.
