Everyone knows the Palace of Versailles, Chambord or Chenonceau Palaces, but The Chateau de Chantilly Palace has always been forgotten, but remains a true monument. In fact, many surprises are hidden in it, let’s explore them together.

No matter which road you go, The Chateau de Chantilly Palace rises in amazing views and attracts your attention with its yellowish colored walls.

The palace remained the same as when it left the Duke of Aumale to the Institut de France in 1886, making it the perfect place to travel back in time.

The Chateau de Chantilly Palace Trip

How to get to The Chateau de Chantilly Palace

The Chateau de Chantilly is a historic French castle located in the town of Chantilly, in Oise, about 50 km north of Paris. The easiest way to get to gardens is by a train from Gare du Nord.

The Chateau de Chantilly Palace

For this, it is enough to take the RER-D route from Gare du Nord to Creil direction (45 minutes) or the Ligne H line train going in the same direction and get off at Chantilly-Gouvieux Station. You have to confirm whether the train you are going to stop at this station is illuminated on the station.

Let me share this information without forgetting, because Chantilly is in Picardie region, Navigo or other public transport cards do not pass on these trains. Therefore, you need to buy a one-way ticket for 9 € from the station.

After we got off at Chantilly-Gouvieux Station, we reached the castle in about half an hour walk, you can take advantage of the free shuttle. There is a free shuttle every weekend from early July to early October. You can find the timetable and other transportation details at the official web page link at the end of the article.

It is of course possible to come here by renting a car or by your own car, it takes about 45 minutes from Paris. If you come to the castle by car, you can park daily for 4 € in the parking lot directly opposite.

Anyway, when you see the castle from afar, nothing else is seen in your eyes, as I said in a dream place. You walk down the meadow, admiring the castle and the green of the surrounding area, and reach the main entrance door.

The Chateau de Chantilly Palace

The Chateau de Chantilly Palace trip consists of three important points: The Park, The Conde Museum and The Grands Ecuries. These are pleasant and varied activities that can be both complementary and supplementary for The Chateau de Chantilly Palace tour.

-The Park

When you enter the garden through the main door and start walking towards the castle, you first climb a ramp and reach the statue of Anne de Montmorency, who is represented on the horse in the middle pedestal and was one of the owners of the castle. The entrance door of the castle is here.

Ponds constitute 25 hectares of the 155-hectare garden, and many gardens and parks that will appeal to different tastes await you visitors.

The Chateau de Chantilly Palace

Most of the garden designed by the famous garden landscape designer André le Nôtre is referred to as the French garden, but some parts destroyed after the French Revolution were later reorganized as the English Garden and the Chinese Garden.

From French-style gardens to anglo-chinoise-style gardens, it is possible to find at least one thing that will caress everyone’s soul.

The Garden

It is quite pleasant to walk around the castle in the garden, because The Chateau de Chantilly Palace gives a different kind of photo from every angle.

Sometimes you feel as if you are looking at a medieval castle, sometimes a Renaissance castle stands before you.

Depending on the weather and light conditions, you have the opportunity to take a different photo from each corner of the garden/park.

So much so that in one of these gardens there is even an area surrounded by kangaroos.

-The Conde Museum

Inside The Chateau de Chantilly Palace, The Conde Museum awaits us, which was created by the initiative of the last owner of the building, the Duke of Aumale, Henri d’Orléans and the son of the last French king.

Already the most important feature of Chantilly Castle is that it is the second museum that was opened after the Louvre Museum in France.

Paintings of French and Italian painters are exhibited in this museum. In the gallery, where 85 paintings are displayed side by side, the works of Italian and French painters mutually follow each other.

The arrangement of the tables has been left as the will  of the duke, in XIX. century, and no place has been changed.

Although the museum consists of many halls, the painting gallery is the largest and most important hall of the museum because it was an important place used by the duke to dazzle the guests.

In addition to being an art lover, the duke was a great bibliophile, or bookworm. The 19,000 books in the palace’s library also add to the palace a large collection of books.

In addition, various art objects and furniture of the period, which are exhibited in other rooms of the palace, still preserve their gaudy world.

-The Grands Ecuries

Horse enthusiasts and, of course, everyone else catches true happiness in The Palace, as you will see on your trip that the Palace has a huge horse farm.

Dozens of horses live on the 186-meter-long farm like princes and even master horse riders do a show twice a day.

Another point you may be interested in is that besides the horse farm, here; In areas such as art, sports and hunting, there is also a horse museum where you can better understand the human relationship with the horse.

You may also be interested in equestrian shows and games held between April and October at the hippodrome opposite the horse farm. Apart from this, different events such as Safkan arabian horses championship fashion show are held from time to time in this hippodrome.

Finally, The Palace is an holiday place in your dream. You should come and see…
